Thundridge & High Cross Society had an afternoon tea and scones event with a talk by Mary Blay giving a brief history of the orchard. A lovely time was had by all and will be mentioned in the Th.& HX.Soc. report. Tony Spackman was very impressed with all the birdsong around.
A cheque for £100.00 to go towards orchard funds was sent to Ann Davey (THCS secretary) by Babs Hewitt who lived in Woodlands Road Thundridge before moving to Devon some time ago to be near her son. She was a neighbour of Eileen Wells who died recently and wanted to donate in memory of Eileen. She is still receiving Village Life and has contributed reminiscences in the past. At 97 years of age she still has very fond memories of Thundridge and talks about the walks she used to enjoy here. She remembers Jean and all the apples she used to have from the orchard. Ann Davey presented the cheque to Mary Blay for safe keeping.
