April 15, 2024

Pond looking better with a varied amount of beasties milling around, i.e., one ‘Frog, several ’Newts, a few ‘Water boatmen’, and ‘Pond Striders’. A quick pond dipping session produced two newts, one female and one male, two large dragonfly nymphs and several damselfly nymphs in different stages of growth, a lot of different types pond snails. Most of the grass has had its first cut of the year with some strimming around pond and stumpery. Although some of the early fruit blossoms are stating to fade, others are starting to peak. Had a couple of ‘Holly Blue’ and ‘Red Admiral’ butterflies visit over the weekend. The large ‘Williams Pear’ is looking great, but the original old ‘Victoria Plum’ is looking really sad, (it had a bout of ‘Silver Leaf’ last year because of the bad weather) probably going to give it a major prune later in the year.

Important Note: Our spring open day this Saturday 20th April 2024 - 2pm to 4pm.
