Another good turnout and a very successful afternoon with a few new faces coming to see the orchard and wander around. Approximately 40+ people, including trustees and volunteers, braved the slightly dubious weather to spend a few hours in the orchard. Plenty of cake, biscuits, tea and coffee consumed. Lots of chat about the progress been made of the last six months (all positive). An excellent amount in donations taken for the apples, refreshments and bird fund, with local resident Dereck Matthews donating several bird feeders and bird seed. Also a very decent amount received from the sale of orchard jam and chutneys. With a late donation yesterday afternoon, a couple more jam and chutney sales this morning the total amount taken, after certain production costs are removed, was a healthy £293.30.
Thanks again to the volunteers distributing flyers around the villages to promote the event and for the morning work clearing up, setting up chairs and tables ready for visitors. Special thanks to those volunteers who produced homemade biscuits, cakes, jams and chutneys.
